About The Age Calculator

Our age calculator is a versatile tool designed to help you determine your current age based on your date of birth. Simply enter your birthdate in the ‘Date of Birth’ field, and the calculator will provide your age in years, months, and days. If you want to know your age at a specific past or future date, you can enter that date in the ‘Age at the Date’ field.

This calculator is also useful for determining the age of various objects or historical sites. For example, you can use it to find out how long a historical monument has been standing or the age of a collectible item by entering the date the item was acquired or the monument was completed.

How to Use the Age Calculator

  1. By default, the calculator will display today’s date in the ‘Age at the Date‘ field and a date 20 years back from the current date in the ‘Date of Birth’ field.
  2. To find out your current age or the age of an object, enter your birthdate (or the start date for an object) in the ‘Date of Birth’ field and leave the ‘Age at the Date’ field unchanged.
  3. To find out how old you were or will be at a specific date, fill in the ‘Date of Birth’ field with your birthdate and enter the desired date in the ‘Age at the Date’ field.
  4. You can tap on the year in the calendar control to quickly change the year value. Similarly, you can tap on the month to select the month
  5. Click the ‘Calculate‘ button to see the result.
  6. Click the  ‘Reset‘ button to reset the calculator to default values.

Understanding the Output

The result page of the calculator is divided into two sections:

  1. First Line: Shows the age in years, months, and days.
  2. Remaining Lines: Provides the age in other formats, including months and days, weeks and days, or just days, hours, minutes, and seconds.

How the Age Calculator Works

Our calculator uses the Gregorian calendar, the most widely used calendar system worldwide. Here’s how it works:

  • Gregorian Calendar Basics: A standard year in the Gregorian calendar has 365 days, while a leap year has 366 days. The year is divided into 12 months of varying lengths: January, March, May, July, August, October, and December each have 31 days; April, June, September, and November have 30 days; and February has 28 days in a common year and 29 days in a leap year.
  • Age Calculation: Age is calculated by counting full years, months, and days from the date of birth. A person is considered to be one year old only after 12 months have passed since their birthdate. Similarly, the calculator adds one year to the age for every 12-month period completed.
